All county board and committee meetings are normally held on Tuesdays at 1:30 p.m. in County Board Room A-2400 in the Government Center, unless otherwise noted. Board and committee meetings are video-streamed live on the web, broadcast live on Metropolitan Cable Network Channel 6, and re-broadcast on Channel 6 on Fridays at 8 p.m.

The agenda for the next board meeting is published as soon as possible prior to the meeting and linked from Agendas and Minutes. You may also sign up to receive county board agenda email notices.

Questions regarding board agenda items may be directed to Commissioner Mike Opat, Board Chair, 612-348-7881; the Clerk of the Board, 612-348-5433; or County Administration.

County Board Committee Meetings

Prior to formal action by the board, items are usually discussed in committee.

There are six standing committees of the board:

  • Budget & Capital Investment
  • Public Works, Energy and Environment
  • Health and Human Services
  • Public Safety and Judiciary
  • Libraries, Technology and General Government
  • Intergovernmental

The commissioners handle the business of the committees in succession, and the order in which the committees meet varies.

An "open forum" time is provided during the Libraries, Technology and General Government Committee meetings for citizens to address the commissioners on issues that are not agenda items.

Board Briefings
Commissioners meet frequently with the county administrator and staff to informally discuss current issues. These board briefings are generally scheduled several Thursdays of each month at 9:30 a.m. in County Board Room A-2400 in the Government Center.  Briefing dates and agendas are available by contacting board chair Commissioner Mike Opat at 612-348-7881.

Public Hearings
Prior to voting on certain issues, the board may hold public hearings as required by statute, or as an additional venue for public input. Scheduled public hearings are listed on Agendas and Minutes.

Other
From time-to-time the board may call either a special meeting or an emergency meeting. Notice of such meetings are posted on Agendas and Minutes, in addition to other sources as required by state law.

Previous Board and Committee Agendas
County board and committee meeting agendas from 2008, 2009 and 2010 may be accessed through Agendas and Minutes.

Contact the Clerk of the Board for agendas from all other previous years.
